There are several great communities that allow users to create and contribute to book lists. One of the most well known is Amazon.com's Listmania. Users at Amazon are welcome to create lists that can include all sorts of media, which is something that makes them unique. Most Amazon users have closed lists, meaning only one person contributes to them.
Another popular site for reading lists is Goodreads.com's Listopia. Unlike Amazon, many lists on Goodreads are open for contribution. That means that other users can add on to a list that someone else has started. This can be really effective because it becomes an ongoing suggestion list. Users can browse a list and add on other books they think the creator might like as well, making it more of a community project. Users are also invited to vote on the books on the lists, so they all display a star rating.
